About 10 years ago there were a lot of articles and pretty graphics (heat maps) illustrating human behavior when searching; how human eyes look at a page specifically, when searching. Around that time is when the term *F Shaped Pattern Searching* (and variations) came to light. In fact this is a great article that’s sited by many when discussing this topic:

I was looking at Kindles today on Amazon and found the matrix below, which is of Kindle app icons.
You can clearly see that there was thought put into the arraignment of the app icons:
Looks like F-Shaped Pattern Searching is still true today, I’d trust Amazon to do their homework 🙂
